MIDI Players
- Apple's iTunes (Freeware, Requires MacOS 9.04 or newer)
- MPlayer - Multimedia Player (Freeware - Approx. 1Mb) - Can play MP3 Files, too.
- Mu-Zak 149 Kb (Freeware) - Can queue MIDI files, uses QuickTime Instruments, and plays other types of sound files as well. The best one to use as an external MIDI application for browsers because of the way is queues files.
- MidPlay 1.0.4E 23 Kb (Freeware) - Small, fast-loading, chain-plays up to 200 files, requires an external sound unit.
- Radio Destiny Media Player (MIDI & MP3) (Freeware)
  Warning It automatically changes the "creator" of any MIDI file played.
- You can drag a .mid (or .kar) file on top of SimpleText or QuickTime/MoviePlayer (which come with MacOS).
MIDI Plugins
- Yamaha MIDplug (Freeware - Power Mac Only) - It has a software synthesizer with high quality instruments, supports Opcode if you want to use an external MIDI unit, streams playback, and also supports wav, aiff and au.
- ~~Crescendo (Freeware) - Uses QuickTime instruments.~~
  The last time I visited, they were only offering a Windows Version.
Karaoke Players
- Karaoking 1.0 (Freeware)
  - Download it from one of these places. (441082 bytes)

Amiga

MIDI Players (Freeware)
- ~~MidiPlay~~ - plays format 0 and 1 MIDI files and MIDI karaoke files.

MIDI Players
These programs can be used as stand-alone players, or as browser helper applications
- MixVibes - Free
  This DJ software plays MIDI files as well as MP3 and WMA.
- Microsoft's Media Player
  The built-in Media player which is part of Windows/Win 95.
  - It is in your ":Windows" directory (mplayer.exe)
  - In Win-95, It's also accessable under Start menu | Programs | Accessories |Multimedia | Media Player ...
  - This is your basic, no frills, midi (and other format) file player.
- SeerMusic Player (3.5 Mb Freeware)
  Windows 95/98/00, 16MB ram, any pentium computer.
- Arnold's MIDI Player (Lite)
  A well-known Macintosh MIDI and Karaoke File player is also available for Windows 95 and NT.
- MegaMID for Windows v0.20
  - Keyboard display for notes
  - Change patches and tempo while MIDI file is playing
- MIDI Zuke Box (Freeware)
  - Plays directly from ZIPped sets of MIDI files.
  - Drawbacks : Won't play regular midi files which are not inside a zipped archive.
- NoteWorthy ArtWare's NoteWorthy Player (Freeware)
  Displays score notation while playing MIDI file.
  Drawbacks : No playback control features
- Radio Destiny Media Player (MIDI & MP3)

MIDI Plugins
These programs only operate from within a browser.
- Yamaha MIDplug (Beta Version is Free) - **
  It has a software synthesizer that lets people with only FM-synth cards hear playback of the same quality as a wavetable card.
  - Has Yamaha XG synthesizer enhanced capabilities.
  - Plays single midi files, allows user to save file,and adjust playback volume.
  Drawbacks: Requires Pentium (75MHz) or better processor; captures browser window while song is playing
- Crescendo (Freeware)
  - plays single midi files, allows user to save file, and adjust playback volume.
  Drawbacks: captures browser window while song is playing, copy which I tested also chops off last notes of midi files.
Karaoke Players
- vanBasco's Karaoke Player (Freeware)
  Full screen karaoke display, realtime MIDI display, playlists and web browser plugin
- Arminio Grgic's midiX Karaoke Creator, Player & Plugin (Postcard Ware)
- WinKaraoke (Postcard Ware)
